# Reefer Claim Guard

Open /tools/reefer-claim-guard.html, or choose Tools / Reefer Claim Guard from the top-left product switcher. No login is needed for the public tool.

Enter optional load context and written instructions. Select the current stage. Answer Yes only for a verified control, No for a known gap, and Unknown when not verified. Critical No answers appear first, then other No answers, then Unknowns. The review includes current and earlier stages only. Later-stage answers stay in the session and are included, labeled, in the handoff. Progress is a count of user-confirmed controls, never clearance or a risk score.

Use evidence notes to record readings with units/time, source file references, owners and next steps. Review, copy, download or print the handoff before closing. Reset clears context, answers and notes after an inline confirmation. Reload and closing also discard the session. Exported files and copied text remain wherever you put them. No localStorage, cookies, analytics, network requests or accounts are used by the tool. Opening source links is an explicit online action. The hosted page requires its assets to load; the standalone extension supports offline core checks.

## Standalone Chrome extension

1. Download /tools/downloads/reefer-claim-guard-extension.zip and extract it.
2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome and enable Developer mode.
3. Select Load unpacked and choose the extracted folder containing manifest.json.
4. Click the extension icon to open a full tab. Source links require a connection; checks and export run offline.

This is a separate extension from the existing LinkedIn enrichment extension. It requests no permissions, host permissions, tokens or access to other tabs. Its action creates its own local extension tab. It is not a Chrome Web Store release. Keep the extracted folder in place. To update, regenerate/extract the package and use Reload on its card in chrome://extensions.

## Maintenance and verification

Source: public/tools/reefer-claim-guard.html and public/tools/assets/reefer-claim-guard/{engine.mjs,app.mjs,style.css}. The engine holds check copy, traceable sources, priorities and plain-text report generation. app.mjs uses DOM textContent for user data. Nothing executes entered text.

Run `node scripts/package-reefer-claim-guard.mjs` after changing those sources or this document. It copies the same assets into public/tools/downloads/reefer-claim-guard-extension and produces its ZIP. Do not edit generated assets directly. The packaging script requires zip.

Run `npx vitest run tests/tools/reefer-claim-guard.test.js` and changed-file lint. Manually check unknown defaults, a critical No, stage switching, notes, exports, reset, mobile layout and the product switcher with one entitled product and collapsed navigation. Inspect the extension manifest and confirm offline checks after Load unpacked. Browser stores may impose separate publication requirements; store submission is outside this version.

The practical workflow is not an official FDA/USDA checklist or legal, safety, liability or insurance determination. FDA temperature-control and precooling guidance is scoped to covered operations where temperature control is required for safety. The source list includes the current FDA rule page, USDA transportation resources, the 2019 USDA-linked UF IFAS transport handbook and existing Sentinel public field guides. See each control’s sources. Commodity temperature is never selected automatically.
