A temperature graph needs context before it can explain a shipment. A red line may identify an event worth reviewing, but it does not by itself establish product condition or responsibility. Start with these seven checks when assembling an exception review.
1. Confusing the setpoint with a measurement
Label the commanded setting separately from recorded air or product readings. These values describe different things and should not be merged into a single “load temperature.”
2. Forgetting where the sensor was located

3. Comparing timestamps from different time zones
Preserve the original export and note its time basis. Align a separate review timeline to dispatch events without changing the source record.
4. Treating missing data as a stable reading
Identify gaps explicitly. Check whether a device was disconnected, stopped recording, or has an export problem before drawing conclusions about the missing period.
5. Reviewing spikes without operating events
Compare the record with documented stops, door openings, equipment events, and measurement times. Treat a possible explanation as a question until the evidence supports it.
6. Applying a generic threshold to every shipment
Retrieve the actual product specifications and applicable review criteria. The person responsible for product disposition should interpret an excursion using the relevant safety and quality requirements.
7. Saving only a screenshot
Keep the original data export, device details, and relevant communications. A screenshot may omit duration, sampling intervals, or portions of the trip needed for a meaningful review.
